Device unlock policy
We are the unlock company. Nothing we sell is locked, nothing we activate gets locked, and the only lock we honor is the one you set yourself.
Devices we sell
Every new and certified pre-owned phone, tablet, watch and Mac sold by Mac Wireless is carrier-unlocked when it ships. There is no waiting period, no minimum service and no request to make. You can use it on our networks or anyone else's.
Devices you bring
A phone activated on Mac Wireless must already be unlocked. Our phone check reads the IMEI and tells you whether it is. If it isn't, your current carrier has to unlock it. They generally require the device to be paid off and the account in good standing. Most complete the unlock within a couple of business days — dial 611 or use their app. Run the check again afterwards and you're set.
What we never do
- We never lock a device to our service, before or after activation.
- We never charge to unlock, because there is nothing to unlock.
- We never hold your number: transfers out are free, and we release the number as soon as the receiving carrier asks — unless you have turned on Number lock.
Locks you control
In My Account → Profile & security you can turn on Number lock (no transfer of your number to another carrier until you turn it off) and SIM lock (no SIM change or eSIM re-issue on the line). Both are off by default, both are instant, and both are yours to switch.
